LiC students on one of our summer programmes
Here at Leaders in Community (LiC) we take a long-term view to supporting children and young people to aspire and achieve pre and post-16 success. We walk alongside schools in preparing children for their futures during term time and the holidays. Particularly during the long summer holidays. As a ‘summer slide’ could occur in their academics and/or ambition. Central to compiling our summer holiday programme is our staff member, Job who successfully delivers through his projects and partnerships.
Read below to get a taste of what we do did this Summer 2025:
Summer Kid’s Club
LiC gave 7–14-year-olds holiday fun, food; and experiences. Like their visit to the Young V&A museum. The Kid’s Club also enables our 15-18 years old to develop leadership, organisational and management skills in the delivery of educational, sport and creative activities by leading on holiday club sessions. Our teenagers get to acquire work/soft skills, test out careers in childcare and teaching; and build up their CVs before term time starts.
Teenz Can Cook
With our partner Future Kidz Development CIC, Teviot teenagers aged 12-16 years got to develop their cooking and baking skills. Learning basic cooking techniques, quick easy fun recipes and kitchen safety and food hygiene helps them to develop a life skill essential for independent living if their go away to university. Whilst developing a love for cooking that could ignite them to become a chef or professional cook.
Employability Leadership Programme
For our 15-19 year olds, our employability programme is focused on getting them ‘job ready’ with free CV support, work experience, skills development and a residential trip. An outdoor activity centre for team building, skills and personal development. We thank our partners the Mayor of London Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) and London Youth for supporting and/or funding this.
Construkt Programme
Our Sixth Formers got an insight into the construction industry courtesy of our VRU Partner – Serious About Youth. Delivering their Construction and Engineering, Construkt programme. From 4 to 15 August 2025, young people were given the knowledge and/or skills to dip into on site and back-office roles.
15th Birthday Party Youth Event
It’s not all work and no play at LiC. For we like to have fun too and celebrate. Like our 15th Birthday Youth Party co-designed and organised with our young people. Thank you for being at heart of what we do.
