Leaders in Community is a youth-led charity founded by a group of active local young people from Tower Hamlets. We were set up in 2006 by young adults who wanted to improve their local services.
Over the years we have helped thousands of young people by giving them access to our creative youth workand career learning programmes and volunteering opportunities.
Aimed at empowering young people in leadership, governance and skills for life, our programmes run throughout the year and are free for all young people.
Our vision and mission is to help young people in Tower Hamlets remove the internal and external barriers to education, employment and entrepreneurship success.
Tune into our community podcast, where your friendly hosts Mo and Mash chat with local leaders, activists, and participants. Together, we explore the stories and insights from wonderful people working to make the world a better place.
If you want to take join as a guest, or know someone who would make a great guest, please complete our form.

Our programmes & community projects
We’re committed to creating opportunities for young people under 25 to increase their skills and opportunities. If you’re interested in joining or supporting one of our programmes or projects get in touch.
We’re proud to manage The Teviot Centre, a thriving community hub of activity.
At the Teviot Centre, we value diversity and try to create an inclusive space for our community. It’s a friendly, welcoming space that’s great place to meet up with friends and make some new ones.
Join us at the Teviot Centre to learn something new
Whether it’s learning a new skill, meeting friends who enjoy the same hobby or keeping fit – the Teviot Centre is here for you.
During the week you can for example do IT classes, mindfulness yoga, self defence and more to meet your health, education and training needs.
Don’t miss out! Follow us on our social media channels to find out what’s going on at the Teviot Centre.
Stronger Minds: Practical mental health support for young people and families
As part of Stronger Minds, we’ve created two practical guides to help young people, parents and carers better understand mental health and know what to do when things feel difficult.
The Young People’s Guide explores what mental health means, the everyday pressures that can affect how you feel, signs that you or a friend may be struggling, and how to respond when someone opens up. It also includes simple wellbeing tools, ways to challenge stigma, practical steps to look after your mental health, and clear routes to further or urgent support.Â
The Parent & Carer Guide helps families understand the pressures that can affect both their own wellbeing and their child’s mental health. It covers signs to look out for, how to respond when a young person opens up, ways to create safer conversations at home, practical wellbeing steps for parents themselves, and where families can find further support.Â
Both guides include clear information on where young people and families can find additional and urgent support.
With thanks to everyone supporting Stronger Minds, including Compass Wellbeing, WellOne, Inspirited Minds and Leaders in Community, whose partnership has helped make these resources possible.
